 Joanne Holmes
Mosaic Artist, Sculptor
Joanne started her first mosaic piece many years ago and instantly found she had a unique talent for this ancient art form. Since then, she has successfully created many different designs and concepts using varied materials and methods. With a passion for the detailed mosaic style from days long ago, her pieces reflect the meticulous handwork akin to the early Christian Byzantine masterpieces.
Further developing her 3D works, Joanne's hand carved sculptures continue to express her distinctive flair for colour, movement and energy. The "Feminine" series exemplifies her focus on the human form and the motions of life. Joanne has captured through these beautiful sculpted works the many faces of Women, emotions, togetherness, playfulness and sexuality.
Every mosaic piece that Joanne has created consists of thousands
of hand cut Italian glass tiles, that when laid with her own individual style, give life to her pieces in such a fresh and unique way. Her experience with using quality materials and ancient techniques have enabled her to offer mosaic classes and consulting.
The future holds many possibilities with Joanne looking to diversify her art by sculpting from different mediums such as wood and marble. Her passion is to develop and challenge her skills, further capturing the feminine form which has become her signature style.
